Beverley Mathias is the recently retired Director of REACH: National Advice Centre for Children with Reading Difficulties, where she worked with children who have difficulties relating to reading, writing and communication skills.

This involved advising parents, teachers and librarians, working with children in school, consulting with publishers and other organisations working on behalf of children with special needs. She has published articles in educational journals, poetry collection compilations for children, children's fiction, dual language sign / English non fiction for deaf children, books on encouraging children with special needs to read and write, and books on the use of picture books and poetry in special needs education.

Beverley Mathias will visit a school to offer advice on special needs reading, or work under contract on a one-to-one basis with a child, or with small groups. She is also an accomplished storyteller, who has worked in primary schools and public libraries in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
