TAX FREE INCOME 2008/9- So, you got as far as earning your first £103 in the hope that you can a) survive and b) avoid paying tax. Unfortunately, you still had to pay National Insurance so, to avoid this, you dropped your earnings to £90.00 and decide to 'go it alone'. With the current minimum wage at £5.52 per hour (over 22s), that's approximately 16 hours per week paid work you have to do and the rest of the time is your own, to enjoy life. Can it be done? (Only if you live somewhere that doesn't involve paying rent or mortgage!)
