In 1999, a series of articles appeared in 'Now You Know' monthly newspaper called, 'The Scottish Pound'. These articles were the results of a financial experiment that had taken place, part of a virtual 'cash challenge', to find out if it was possible to feed a family of four for a week on a mere £10. Seven days, four people, 28 main meals for a tenner - that was a tough challenge, but it was completed successfully! Several other dosh-defying challenges have since been set, and met, with relish. Some may remember the 'wine tasting' experiment, thereinafter named challenge for 'the plonkers'. In 2002, the first ever Cyberdosh online treasure hunt was introduced with astounding results. Players from around the globe logged on to search for clues to the whereabouts of our hidden Cyberdosh. In 2005,'Shona Prophett published the results of her latest financial experiments in 'Now You Know' magazine, after comparing her dabblings in the stock market with some small gambles and minimal investments. It was from simple, fun experiments such as these that the true meaning of Cyberdosh was revealed. The money games that people play are all REAL, life is REAL, financial well-being or hardship are REAL issues, but many transactions go unseen via the great creation we know as the Internet. In these terms, your cash, or dosh, has become virtual, changing hands invisibly through cyberspace. Cyberdosh has well and truly arrived and this money game is FOR REAL. According to data collated by agencies such as the CIA, the number of people with access to the Internet has now surpassed one billion. By the year 2010, that number could almost double.
