Until I received my Orchid Cactus, I had never seen such a plant. This
particular one was claimed whilst collecting a load of flowerpots via
Freecycle. (31st May 2008). I was fortunate enough to be given a large
dutting of Lemon Balm Mint and this beautiful cactus plant, which was
flowering. The lady concerned grows many, many varieties of cactus and
has a profusion of plants in her extensive garden, many of which she
has suggested I help myself to cuttings. The following, however, is
all about "Phyllis", who now sits on the window sill as I
can't find a suitable place to hang her without making a hole in the
landlord's ceiling. I removed the wilted flower but have, since, learned
that these plants can produce edible fruits that can also be used for
harvesting seeds.

- The first flower is already wilting. The flowers have a very
strong scent that fills the room.
