Frugal Living and an Attempt to Grow Leeks

These leeks were bought as seedlings and planted out mid-May 2008 in 2 rows, one either side of the onions. These did exceptionally well although some had to be left behind when we moved house. However, we harvested enough to last an entire year and I have planted more in the new garden.

09/07/08 - Leeks coming along nicely next to the onions

23/07/08 - opposite - leeks continuing to grow well and first row should be ready for harvesting soon. Most od these will be chopped and frozen for autumn & winter soups.

31/07/08 - Guess who is making potato & leek soup tomorrow? 07/06/09 - The seeds have germinated and will be ready for thinning out very soon.

07/06/09 - If these seedlings all grow, we'll have enough leeks to keep us and the neighbours going for the next year.
