Woman Zone is a light-hearted approach to helping solve all of life's little problems.

Questions can be asked that may not have been asked elsewhere. It will include tales of marital bliss and harmony (or not, as the case may be) and an alternative look at diets, health, fitness, housekeeping, equality, inequality and anything else remotely connected to the subject of women - even men!

Introduction | Grab it Now! | Nuts Vs Zoo | Eddie Elwood | Breadmakers | Kitchen Stuff | Microholding

If you wish to remain within the realms of political correctness, then Woman Zone may not be for you. This whole scenario goes out of the window as we take a look at various aspects of modern day life: housekeeping, frugal budgets, baking, cooking, cleaning, gardening, childcare, pet care, education, home study, work, hobbies, health and wellness.

You didn't really think I'd keep this page for 'nice' stuff like Mills & Boon romance novels did you? There will be a few articles about manicures, beauty treatments and diets, plus a little about fashion, jewellery and hair products. But Woman Zone is mainly about modern day woman living a traditional lifestyle - in charge of the household.

  • YES, most farmers are men, yet women can safely be smallholders or, better still, microholders.
  • YES, you can complain about those little chores needing done around the house that warrant the term, 'a man's job',
  • YES, you can complain about having to do 'women's work, like secretarial, domestic, health care, child care or hairdressing
  • YES, you can save from the housekeeping money to treat yourself to something worthwhile and
  • YES, you may also stand up and be counted, if you reckon that men and women are equals.

BUT, at the end of the day, women are ALWAYS the ones who bear the children and men are the ones more likely to arrive home late, switch on the television and open a can of beer... then leave the dratted plastic can holders in the fridge!

OK, in defence of the men... hello to all women who prefer to 'borrow' a 'Bic' razor then RETURN it to the pack for later use, without telling the men!

Men are usually bigger, stronger and more robust than most women , but many still can't fathom out how to work a washing machine, make a meal for more than 4 or clean a bathroom. As for shopping, I despair. There are hunters and there are gatherers - nowadays, men can be both, but only when it comes to gathering remote controls. Women, on the other hand, must forever hunt and gather.

I am not suggesting that the above roles are set fast. Many men make wonderful parents, homemakers, nurses, childminders and secretaries, while many women revel in male dominated careers, but it appears to me that society, in general, is sick to death of political correctness and the illusion that we have achieved equality between the sexes. Equality? What a load of rubbish! Bring on the chocolates, flowers, manicures, lingerie, perfume, heels and handbags - until I see a true-blooded male with that lot, I'll never be convinced. And when was the last time you saw a bunch of well-manicured women working on a building site? That would be like expecting a farmer to read literature, spring clean and prepare all the family meals! (Although I'm sure there must be one somewhere who does. Again, he'll be the exception to the rules.)

A Housewife's life for me?

The terms 'housewife' and 'mother' have taken on new meanings over the last century. Nowadays, both men and women can earn. This isn't to do with any sexist movement, nor is it about equality - it's about MONEY and CHOICE!

Why should men be expected to find a wife to cook, clean, rear their children and balance the housekeeping, when they can earn, spend, procreate, live and learn without the trappings of marriage? The truth is, if women never wanted marriage, men would probably forget it existed. But who would carry on the 'good family name' if the mother(s) of their children excluded them from birth certificates? Silly me! I think they already legislated against that!

And as for the paternity leave legislation, I don't care what they say, the majority of real men, in my opinion, do NOT want to stay home and play at being fulltime parents and housekeepers - we'd all be bankrupt if that happened!

Eddie's Really Bad WomanZone Song Lyrics to
'This Is My Life' - A No. 1 hit for the future?

Get up, get washed, get yourself dressed,
Eat your toast, then go to work depressed.
Leave work, go home, eat and watch TV,
Go to bed until it's time to... let's see!

(Repeat this for a minimum of five verses,
then lullaby chorus begins)

Weekend's here, weekend's here,
And I'm having a long lie,
Got no work today, 'cos it's Saturday,
And the factory is closed!

Blast and drat, what is that?
Do you really have to shout?
I'm trying to sleep, but I can't,
I'd forgotten that school's out!

What the heck? I'd best go check,
That the kids are behaving,
I'll do the dishes, scrub the floor,
Do the laundry, and then there's more.

Vacuum up, make the tea,
Do the garden, 'what about me?'
Amuse the kids, spend the pay,
Do the shopping, call it a day!

Attend the church? Committee meeting?
Visit relatives? I'm nearly greeting,
The weekend's over, what a strife,
No point complaining, 'cos this is life!
