In the beginning, Eddie Elwood (a woman) created Woman Zone. At first, it was without structure, devoid of serious content and made available only to the chosen few. From only three pens (one black, one blue and one red) and a single notepad, Eddie soon fed 5000 faithful readers with useless information and satirical ramblings. When the work was completed, Eddie called it 'Now You Know!' And the word on the street was that it was good. So Eddie continued creating useless information and satirical ramblings, bringing forth the creation of Eddie-torial and Saltire Satire. And from thence, the great river of words from Jordan erupted and spewed forth in their thousands in the form of Dear Millie May and South of the Border, yet the banks of the great Jordan remained devoid of cash and empty. Yet the word on the street was that it was good, for he spent too much anyway and was never content with his lot. |
As the word spread, the writers came from far and wide. Eddie had incorporated Jordan, despite his aversion to discipline and despite the evidence of his many sins, including the bopping of a Penguin's nose and the near blasphemous reports in Cosmo. Then Jordan begat Millie May. And hence forth arrived Jellykatt. And Bouzirouge. And Grace. And Sherlock. And so arrived the Bishop. And so arrived Armand. And so arrived Jim and Sheena and Helen and Andrew and Ronnie and Anne and George etc., etc., etc.... And there appeared a great need for an entire 20 page publication to correspond with the moons of the seasons. For even the cousin of Grace was with us. And it duly followed that for ten full moons, the publication roamed the face of the earth and spread the word that 'Now You Know!' was a small, local newspaper. But all this happened way back in the late 1900's and we are now in the Twenty-first century. |
The little monthly newspaper, known as 'Now You Know!', lay dormant for over 1000 days and then the time came for it to rise up, once more.. with the added addition of the outrageously eccentric ladies, known as the palindromic Princesses of Scotland, Agnes & Senga... who joined Eddie Elwood, followed shortly by the arrival of Shona Prophett, but only in the mistaken belief that the controller of this particular section of Now You Know magazine was none other than Eddy Ellwood! But thanks Eddy, for allowing us the pleasure of mistaken identity and furnishing us with such a glamorous pose! If you have a problem, try Dear Millie May. If you have an 'off-day', try some good old-fashioned 'Saltire Satire' and if you are, or are not, a woman, bide awhile and see what Woman Zone has to say about life and society in general. |
