INSIDE INFORMATION!
(Jordan striding down Manse Road in the Scottish village of Newmains can only be described as an awsome site. We hope to see him in Wigtown, Scotland's national book town, in the not-too-distant future)
Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, into a regimental environment, Jordan was educated around the world in countries like Singapore and Northern Ireland, before finishing his education in York, England.
Upon leaving full-time education, Jordan started NU Earth, (At one time Europe's largest mail order science fiction company), with long time friend Mike Reid. This gave him the opportunity to work on his first magazine, DOWN TO EARTH, a small independent publication that ran for five issues. DOWN TO EARTH may have been cancelled but Jordan had made his mark and started to work on various publications throughout the UK. (He later wrote exclusively for the Scottish monthly publication, 'Now You Know!' and generated an almost cult following with his satirical column, 'South of the Border') At the same time, he penned the cult classic story, INTO THE LIGHT (ITL), which caught the imagination of a large cross section of the science fiction reading public. Sold primarily on computer disk, Jordan adopted the pen name of JOR DANE under the advice of his agent at that time. As a mysterious author, shielding his personal life, the disks travelled across the globe, reaching Japan and the United States, firing the imaginations of the few people lucky enough to have access to the story. At one science fiction convention two hundred and fifty copies of the disk were sold in ninety minutes.
After the controversial nature of ITL, Jordan returned to the mainstream with HUNTER, HUNTED. A futuristic police thriller that looks at life after Great Britain has degenerated into independent states, following civil war, with one analyst quoted as describing the work as, "Blade Runner meets Die Hard". During the writing of HH, Jordan was approached by STREET MAGAZINE and wrote the computer and games review sections, at the same time he started to write for independent radio.
We have clippings and postings from numerous newspapers, including an exclusive interview with Cosmopolitan magazine. Since his arrival at NYK, we have also been approached by several interested parties concerning his work. Everything about Jordan appears controversial but rest assured, you WILL be hearing a great deal more about this enigmatic writer in the near future!
