Following a frugal regime during winter is never easy. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks or who agrees or disagrees with our lifestyle choices, it's always around February that we could happily crank up the heating and throw extra logs on the fire... or else pack up and head for warmer, drier climes!

15 Years down the road and round the bend but not quite over the hill... Our satirical 'Woman Zone' columns first appeared in print in 1999. Those responsible for the rants, raves and ramblings included Shona Prophett, the Bishop, Rosemary, Eddie Elwood, Jordan, Millie May, Agnes and Senga... names that many of you may recognise and characters some of you met.

Cheap and cheerful living in small spaces is what many aspire to, which is quite amazing considering what's available to buy nowadays. But for frugal living, we want fun and affordable homes, like tiny houses, cabins or even caravans, camper vans or tents. Well, tomorrow is a big day for me, as I downsize to frugal summer quarters.

We've been busy in Frugaldom, so I thought I'd best update you with progress before autumn fades into winter. We've been painting the barn and my old bike succumbed to chronic lameness under the strain of work. If it was a horse, it would have been retired or, worse still, shot!

The latest Frugaldom Project officially came into being on 8th July, 2014. This can be thought of as a 'members go free' virtual eco tour where you can experience Frugaldom for yourself, watch it develop from it's absolute beginnings and contribute or take part whenever you like.

1st - 7th September 2014 is Zero Waste Week and, as expected, Frugaldom is taking part in recycling, upcycling, repurposing and reusing in a bid to cut waste and save money.

Apologies for such a delay in updating the blog but there have been some major developments at Frugaldom HQ! We've hatched yet another frugal plan!

Sporadic Scottish summer weather means making the absolute frugal best of any sunshine, so when the opportunity arose to catch up with friends in a rural idyll and talk caravans and camping, I packed the tent and got on my bike.
